Since its induction in 1983, the Mercury Grand Marquis has provided a durable and comfortable platform for smooth and easy riding. The singular aspects of the vehicle have endured: a large trunk, plenty of legroom and a workhorse 224-horsepower 4.6L V8 engine with flex-fuel capability. For 2009, the Mercury Grand Marquis has dropped its base model GS making the LS the only available model.
The well-equipped LS includes features such as traction control, 17" alloy wheels, fog lamps, heated power mirrors, keyless entry with exterior keypad, leather-trimmed seats, electronic automatic temperature control, full power trunk with key-fob open/close, and message center with trip computer.
The optional equipment list remains simple, and includes heated front seats, adjustable pedals, and wood and leather trimmed steering wheel with audio and climate controls. Also available is the smoker's package with a rarely seen lighter element and ash cup.
In 2009 the Mercury Grand Marquis simplifies its line-up by dropping its GS model and becoming a single-trim automobile. Along with the GS badge the Grand Marquis also drops available options such as power sun/moonroof, alarm, CD changer and full-size spare tire.
