“Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness: for they shall be filled.’
“Blessed are” –is a happiness to be enjoyed now and delighted in the present. ‘Who hunger” –this is a profound hunger not to be satisfied with just a snack. This is real, intense, a driving force hunger. “Thirst after righteousness”—a person longs to have a righteous nature, they want to be made more holy, a person longs to continue in God’s righteousness. “They shall be filled”—Jesus promises to fill that hunger and that thirst. This is a mysterious filling that can only come from God. He alone satisfies. He keeps us longing for more of His teaching. Let’s read His Word to satisfy this hunger and thirst. Isaiah 40:8 tells us “the Word of our God shall stand forever.”
