Thought from the Word

Psalm 91:14

“Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.”

“Because a person has set his love upon Me.”  God is speaking specifically to those who set their love upon Him.

To set one’s love upon God means to do it by choice. It does not wait for the feeling of love to come or not, but simply chooses to think and act towards God in ways that express love. This would include:

  • Spending time with God.
  • Listening to God.
  • Reading what God has written to the loved one.
  • Speaking to God.
  • Thinking of God in unoccupied moments.
  • Adoring God.
  • Speaking of God to others.
  • Giving to God and making glad sacrifices to Him.

Have you set your love upon God?  The Bible tells us “Love not the world” in I John 2:15.  The world is the morally evil system under the control of the devil.  The world appeals to people’s fleshly desires and thereby diverts them from God.  We need the love of God in our hearts that comes when we receive Jesus into our hearts and we are born again.  Do you have the love of God in your heart?

Those who live wicked lives will not rest in peace when they die.
