A THOUGHT FROM THE WORD
“Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.”
As my wife and I are out and about once in awhile someone will ask how long have you folks been married? Our answer is “Sixty seven years”.They will answer back something “that’s awesome” or “that is so great” and sometimes they say “how do you do it?”I believe the most important thing that happened to us was when we made Christ the center of our lives and our marriage. We had been married five years when we came to know the Lord as our Savior. That was the foundation we needed for a lasting marriage.I often think of this verse “stay in love with the wife of your youth.”I think back how I wanted to be with her and how crazy I was for her love 67 years ago.I just never got over it and still haven’t.She becomes more precious as each year comes around.People need to read I Corinthians 13:4-7 every once in awhile. It would help a lot of marriages. This description of Christian love emphasizes the willingness to give up one’s own desires for the good of the one you love. There is nothing better than being married to the one you love except knowing your sins are forgiven by a holy God.
God’s presence in our lives is our joy, our security, and our salvation
