Thought from the Word

Luke 14:26

“If any man come to me, and hate not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.”

This statement here may be very confusing to many people.I think there is one word that could be misunderstood and that word is “hate”. In a word study I found this to be very helpful. The word “hate” in the Bible means “to have preference for one thing over another.”Another thought is “to love less” as in this verse is to have preference of Christ over family members.Do you love Jesus more than you do anything else?We need to seek that kind of love.

God never changes, His love is always with us
