“Have mercy upon me, O God, according to thy lovingkindness: according unto the multitude of thy tender mercies blot out my transgressions.”
In this Psalm King David is dealing with the sin of adultery. He cries out “have mercy upon me.”His first cry is to ask God to have compassion on Him and not give Him what he deserves for this awful sin.He cries out to God for His lovingkindness toward him. Here is what He wants God to do for Him …blot out my transgressions. He wanted God’s forgiveness; he wanted his sin to be removed from him to be remembered no more. When we realize we have sinned against God we need to go to Him and confess our wrong doing so we can stay in fellowship with Him.When we do that He will cleanse us and forgive us and restore us back to fellowship with Him.It is so important to follow I John 1:9:“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.”Amen and Amen!!!
Our faith should not stand in the wisdom of me, but in the power of God.
